(2020/21) Contents: SYNC(OPATED)

_

As mentioned, two of my greatest passions are jazz and (above all!) music conferences.
Over the years of my collaboration with Node, I have crafted contents for numerous events of this nature, with a notable focus on the Sync Lab program at Medimex (from 2019 to 2022) and the program at Linechek Festival (in 2019) both dedicated to synchronization and licensing opportunities for labels and musicians.

Concurrently, my aspiration was always to craft a brand new format dedicated to the intersection of jazz and synchronizations, allowing these two themes to melt and evolve freely.

Finally, in 2021 (online, due to the Covid-19 pandemic) and again in 2022 (in person, at least!), the fruition of this aspiration took shape in an event I named SYNC(OPATED): Current trends in jazz music synchronization, held in the beautiful setting of JazzIam, in Barcelona.

Below are the photos from the event, its corresponding abstract, and the video documenting the inaugural edition.
Please enjoy it and feel free to drop me a line with your thoughts!

SYNC(OPATED): Current trends in jazz music synchronization

Many things have changed since 1958, when Miles Davis was asked to improvise the whole soundtrack of Ascenseur pour l’échafaud in one single night-session!
For some time now, even in the Jazz cosmos, extra-diegetic music appearing in all kind of tv products got almost solely taken by music libraries or through direct agreements with sync agencies.
So, what are the opportunities for jazz musicians and labels today?
Together with the guest will be analyzed and discussed the main trends concerning the synchronization of jazz music in movies, tv series and tv commercials, giving the partecipants useful tips about how to juggle in the music licensing market.
